of Sam Hill. Sam Hill consults on issues of corporate and marketing strategy and organization. He has particular expertise in developing value propositions and aligning organizations behind them. Mr.
Hill began his career in with Kraft General Foods as an engineer and
later served as Director of International Strategy. Historically a poor
performer, the $2.6 billion unit reached record and company-best levels
of growth and profitability during his tenure. He then joined Booz Allen
Hamilton, rising to a lead partner based in the Chicago, Sydney and New
York offices. He led the Global Marketing Innovation Task Force and also
served as the firm's first Chief Marketing Officer. For a New Zealand
client, he was awarded the Professional Excellence Award, the firm's
highest honor. In 1996, Mr. Hill left Booz Allen to become Vice Chairman
for DMB&B, now Publicis, at that time the twelfth largest ad agency in
the world. Two years later he formed Helios, a successful boutique
consulting firm based in New York and Chicago. Helios was acquired by
FTI Consulting in 2005 and Mr. Hill became a Senior Managing Director of
FTI as well as Vice Chairman of their FD unit. In 2010, Mr. Hill retired
from his full time position at FTI, although he is still on a long term
retainer for a significant portion of his time.His U.S.-based B2C clients have included Royal Caribbean, Sunkist, P&G, Pepsi, Kellogg's, Gap, Blockbuster, Diageo, Giant Eagle, GM (Cadillac), Supervalu, Ford, and Harley-Davidson. His B2B clients in the U.S. include CH2M Hill, Wolters Kluwer, Waste Management, Muzak, Xerox, Cigna, Seibel, Taubman, Briggs & Stratton, Young & Rubicam, and Zebra. Outside the U.S. he has worked with major multinationals such as Johnson & Johnson. He is widely regarded for his innovative and pragmatic strategies, which resulted in three books and dozens of articles in such magazines as Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Journal, Strategy + Business, Fortune, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Ad Age, Brandweek and CMO Magazine. Originally from Waycross, Georgia, he now splits his time between his home in Chicago and his farm in southern Indiana. He and his wife also make an effort to stay active, which experts say is important for people over fifty. After considering a range of activities including scrapbooking, square dancing and water aerobics, they decided to do triathlons. They now do a half dozen events each year of various distances. In 2010, he did his second Ironman. Among his other hobbies and interests are fiction writing, skiing, scuba diving, ultra-cycling, University of Georgia football and hanging out with his old friends from Peace Corps—Guy, Bill, Bill and John.
